My Own English Journey Story: How I Learned English and Why I Started English With Purpose
My Own English Journey Story: How I Started Learning English and Why I Created This Blog
Introduction: Every Journey Begins With a Small Step
Learning English was not always easy for me.
Like many students and learners, I also faced difficulties while learning English. There were times when I knew some English words but could not speak confidently. Sometimes, I understood what others were saying, but I did not know how to reply in English.
I made mistakes. I forgot words. I felt nervous. Sometimes, I wondered whether I would ever be able to speak English confidently.
But I slowly learned an important lesson:
Nobody learns English perfectly in one day.
English is a journey. We learn it step by step, word by word, sentence by sentence, and conversation by conversation.
Today, I am sharing my own English journey with you. I am not sharing this story because I think my journey is perfect. I am sharing it because I want you to understand one simple truth:
If an ordinary learner can continue learning and improving, you can do it too.
This is the story of my relationship with English, my learning journey, my struggles, and the reason why I decided to start this blog, English With Purpose.
My Early Relationship With English
When I was a student, English was not simply a language for me. It was a subject that I had to study in school.
Like many students, I learned English through textbooks, grammar lessons, essays, letters, and examinations. We learned words and rules. We memorized answers. We prepared for examinations.
But there was one big difference between studying English and using English.
Studying English from a book is one thing.
Speaking English in real life is another thing.
I slowly understood that knowing grammar rules does not always mean that we can speak confidently. We may know many words, but when someone suddenly asks us a question in English, we may become nervous.
For example, we may know the meaning of simple words such as:
Good
Beautiful
Important
Difficult
Happy
Successful
But when it is time to speak, we may suddenly forget everything.
This happened to me too.
Sometimes, I knew what I wanted to say, but I could not quickly find the right English words. My thoughts were clear in my mind, but changing those thoughts into English sentences was difficult.
This made me understand that learning English requires more than reading a textbook.
We need practice.
We need patience.
And most importantly, we need confidence.
The Fear of Making Mistakes
One of the biggest problems in learning English is not always grammar.
Sometimes, the biggest problem is fear.
Many learners are afraid of speaking English because they are afraid of making mistakes.
They think:
“What if I say something wrong?”
“What if people laugh at me?”
“What if my grammar is incorrect?”
“What if my pronunciation is not good?”
I also understood these feelings.
When we are afraid, we stop speaking.
And when we stop speaking, we lose the opportunity to improve.
This is one of the most important lessons I learned during my English journey:
Mistakes are not the end of learning. Mistakes are part of learning.
A child does not learn to speak perfectly on the first day.
A child listens.
Then the child tries to speak.
Then the child makes mistakes.
Then the child learns more.
English learning is also similar.
We should not wait until our English becomes perfect before we start speaking.
We should start speaking with the English we already know.
Even simple English is useful.
For example, instead of remaining silent, you can say:
I understand.
I don't understand.
Please repeat that.
Can you help me?
I will try.
I don't know.
Let me think.
I am learning English.
These may be simple sentences, but simple sentences can become the beginning of a confident English-speaking journey.
How I Slowly Started Improving
I did not learn English through one secret method.
There was no magic formula.
I learned gradually.
I tried to read more English.
I tried to understand new words.
I paid attention to sentences.
I observed how English was used in books and daily life.
I also understood that learning one new word is not enough. We should know how to use that word in a sentence.
For example, if we learn the word confident, we should try to make sentences such as:
I want to become a confident English speaker.
She speaks English confidently.
Practice can make you more confident.
This simple habit can help us remember words better.
Another important part of my journey was understanding the importance of regular practice.
You do not need to study English for ten hours every day.
Even a small amount of daily practice can make a difference.
For example, you can spend:
10 minutes reading English.
10 minutes learning new words.
10 minutes speaking simple sentences.
10 minutes listening to English.
Small practice every day can become a big improvement after many months.
The important thing is consistency.
Do not study only when you feel motivated. Create a habit of learning.

English Became More Than a School Subject
Slowly, English became more than just a subject for me.
I began to see English as a useful tool.
English can help us communicate with more people.
It can help us read books.
It can help us understand information.
It can help students in their studies.
It can help people in jobs and interviews.
It can help teachers communicate with students.
It can help us use the internet and learn from the world.
But I also understood something very important.
English should not make us feel inferior.
Some people think that if they cannot speak English fluently, they are less intelligent.
This is completely wrong.
A person's intelligence is not decided by how fluently they speak English.
There are many intelligent, talented, hardworking, and successful people who are still learning English.
English is a skill.
And like every skill, it can be improved through practice.
You may not speak English well today.
That does not mean you will never speak English well.
You simply need time, practice, and patience.
My Experience as an Educator
Through my experience in education, I have seen many students who are afraid of English.
Some students can understand English but cannot speak.
Some students know grammar rules but cannot make sentences.
Some students can write English answers but feel nervous during conversations.
Some students think English is too difficult.
I have always felt that English should be taught in a practical and simple way.
Students do not only need difficult grammar explanations.
They also need useful sentences.
They need conversations.
They need real-life examples.
They need encouragement.
They need someone to tell them:
“Don't be afraid. Start with simple English.”
This idea stayed in my mind for a long time.
I wanted to create useful English-learning content that ordinary learners could understand easily.
I wanted to help students who were searching for simple explanations.
I wanted to help learners who wanted to improve their speaking.
I wanted to share English words, phrases, conversations, grammar lessons, and practical examples.
This desire slowly became the beginning of a new journey.
And that journey led me to create this blog.
Why I Started English With Purpose
I did not want to create a blog only to publish difficult English lessons.
There are already many websites that teach English.
But I wanted to create something in a simple and useful way.
That is why I chose the name:
English With Purpose
I believe that learning English should have a purpose.
We may learn English:
To speak confidently.
To communicate with others.
To do better in school.
To prepare for an interview.
To improve our career.
To travel.
To teach.
To understand books and information.
To become more confident.
Every learner may have a different purpose.
But the journey begins with one decision:
“I want to improve.”
That is enough to begin.
When I started thinking about this blog, I imagined students and learners who might be sitting at home and searching on Google for simple English help.
Maybe someone is searching:
“How can I speak English?”
Maybe a student is searching:
“Easy English sentences for daily use.”
Maybe someone is preparing for an interview.
Maybe a teacher is looking for classroom English.
Maybe a beginner wants to learn basic grammar.
Maybe someone understands English but does not have confidence to speak.
I wanted this blog to become useful for such learners.
I wanted people to feel:
“Yes, I can understand this.”
I Believe English Should Be Simple
One of the biggest reasons behind this blog is my belief that English learning does not always need complicated explanations.
Sometimes, simple English is the best English for a learner.
For example, instead of learning a very difficult sentence, a beginner can start with:
How are you?
I am fine.
What is your name?
My name is ______.
Where do you live?
I live in ______.
What do you do?
I am a student.
I am a teacher.
Nice to meet you.
These simple sentences can help a beginner start communicating.
Later, the learner can move towards longer and more advanced sentences.
But we should not be ashamed of beginning with basic English.
Every expert was once a beginner.
Every confident speaker once spoke simple sentences.
Every writer once wrote simple words.
So, if you are still learning basic English, do not feel discouraged.
You are not behind.
You are learning.
And learning is always better than giving up.
The Importance of Daily Practice
During my journey, I understood that English is not something we can learn only by reading one book.
English becomes easier when we bring it into our daily life.
For example, we can try to think in simple English.
Instead of thinking only in our first language, we can sometimes ask ourselves:
“What am I doing now?”
Then answer:
“I am drinking water.”
“I am going to school.”
“I am cooking food.”
“I am reading a book.”
“I am talking to my friend.”
These small exercises can slowly help us become comfortable with English.
We can also speak to ourselves.
Yes, speaking to yourself can be useful.
Stand in front of a mirror and speak for one or two minutes.
For example:
“Hello. My name is ______. Today I want to talk about my day. I woke up early in the morning. I had breakfast. Then I started my work.”
Do not worry about perfection.
Just speak.
The more you practice, the more comfortable you can become.

My Message to Every English Learner
If you are reading this article and you feel that English is difficult, I want to tell you something from my heart.
Please do not give up.
You may be a beginner today.
You may make mistakes today.
You may feel nervous today.
You may not understand everything today.
But tomorrow can be better.
The important thing is that you continue.
Learn one new word.
Read one paragraph.
Speak five sentences.
Listen to a short English conversation.
Write a small paragraph.
Do something every day.
Your progress may not be visible immediately.
But after some time, you may suddenly realize:
“I can understand more English now.”
“I can make sentences now.”
“I can speak with more confidence now.”
That is how progress happens.
Slowly.
Quietly.
Step by step.
My Journey Is Still Continuing
I want to be honest with you.
My English journey has not ended.
I am still learning.
I still believe that learning never stops.
Every day, we can learn a new word.
We can improve our communication.
We can understand something better.
We can become better than yesterday.
That is the beauty of learning.
You do not have to become perfect.
You simply have to keep improving.
And that is also the purpose behind this blog.
I am not here to tell you that learning English is always easy.
Sometimes, it can be challenging.
Sometimes, you may feel frustrated.
Sometimes, you may forget what you learned.
But if you continue, you can improve.
I hope that through this blog, I can become a small part of your English-learning journey.
Part 2: The Real Purpose Behind This Blog and My Message to Every Learner
Starting a blog was also a new learning journey for me.
Writing articles, choosing topics, creating useful lessons, and thinking about what learners really need taught me many things. I began asking myself an important question:
What can I create that will truly help someone learn English?
The answer was simple.
I wanted to create practical content.
That is why I began focusing on useful topics such as daily English sentences, conversations, English vocabulary, grammar, speaking practice, classroom English, interview English, and real-life communication.
My goal has always been simple:
To make English learning easier for ordinary learners.
I know that many people want to learn English but do not know where to start.
Some learners have expensive books.
Some learners watch many videos.
Some learners download many applications.
But sometimes, having too many resources can create confusion.
A learner may ask:
“What should I learn first?”
“Which grammar topic is important?”
“How many words should I learn?”
“How can I start speaking?”
My simple answer is:
Start where you are. Start with what you know.
You do not need to know everything before you begin.
Begin with basic sentences.
Then learn common words.
Then practice simple conversations.
Then slowly improve your grammar.
The journey does not need to be fast.
It only needs to continue.
I Started Writing for Real Learners
Whenever I think about writing an article, I try to remember the real learner.
I imagine a student who is struggling with English homework.
I imagine someone preparing for an interview.
I imagine a teacher searching for useful classroom sentences.
I imagine a beginner who wants to speak English but does not know how to start.
I imagine someone who has been told:
“Your English is weak.”
These learners need more than information.
They need encouragement.
They need simple explanations.
They need examples that they can use in real life.
That is why I try to keep my English-learning content simple.
Difficult words may sometimes look impressive, but they are not always helpful for beginners.
Simple explanations can reach more people.
A learner should not feel confused after reading an English lesson.
A learner should feel:
“Now I understand.”
That feeling is very important to me.
My Blog Is Not Only About English
Yes, the main purpose of this blog is to help people learn English.
But I also believe that English learning is connected with confidence.
Many people know more English than they think.
Their real problem is not knowledge.
Their problem is confidence.
They are afraid to speak.
They are afraid of mistakes.
They compare themselves with fluent speakers.
They think:
“My English is not good enough.”
But confidence grows through action.
The first time you speak English, you may feel nervous.
The second time may be a little easier.
The tenth time may feel much better.
The hundredth time may feel natural.
This is why practice is so important.
Confidence does not always come before action.
Sometimes, confidence comes because of action.
Speak first.
Practice first.
Try first.
Confidence will slowly follow.
A Simple English Learning Plan
If you ask me how a beginner should start learning English, I would suggest a simple daily routine.
Step 1: Learn Five New Words
Do not try to learn fifty difficult words every day.
Learn five useful words.
For example:
Happy
Important
Beautiful
Improve
Practice
Then make your own sentences.
Step 2: Read Something Simple
Read a short English story, article, or conversation.
Do not worry if you do not understand every word.
Try to understand the main meaning.
Step 3: Speak Simple Sentences
Speak about your daily life.
For example:
“My name is ______.”
“I live in ______.”
“I am learning English.”
“Today, I am feeling good.”
“I want to improve my English.”
Step 4: Listen to English
Listen to simple English conversations.
Pay attention to pronunciation and sentence structure.
Step 5: Write Something
Write five or ten sentences about your day.
For example:
“Today I woke up early. I had breakfast. I went to work. I met my friends. In the evening, I studied English.”
This simple practice can slowly improve your confidence.

Do Not Compare Your Journey With Others
This is another important lesson I want to share.
Do not compare your beginning with someone else's experience.
You may see someone speaking English fluently and think:
“I will never speak like that.”
But you do not know how long that person practiced.
You do not know how many mistakes that person made.
You do not know how difficult their beginning was.
Instead of comparing yourself with others, compare yourself with your past.
Ask yourself:
“Do I know more than I knew last month?”
“Can I understand more English now?”
“Can I make better sentences?”
“Am I more confident than before?”
Even small improvement is progress.
Celebrate it.
Why I Will Continue This Journey
Creating English-learning content has become an important journey for me.
Every article gives me an opportunity to think about learners.
Every topic reminds me that there are many people who want to improve their lives through education.
That is why I want to continue creating useful content.
I want to write more about:
Spoken English
Daily-use English sentences
English conversations
Vocabulary
Grammar
English for students
English for teachers
Interview English
Workplace English
Real-life communication
My dream is simple.
I want English With Purpose to become a useful place for learners who want simple and practical English lessons.
I do not want learners to feel afraid when they see English.
I want them to feel curious.
I want them to practice.
I want them to believe:
“I can learn English.”
My Final Message From the Heart
Dear reader, if you have reached this part of my story, thank you for reading my journey.
I do not know where you are in your English-learning journey.
Maybe you are a complete beginner.
Maybe you are a student.
Maybe you are a teacher.
Maybe you are preparing for a job.
Maybe you simply want to speak confidently.
Whatever your reason is, I want to tell you this:
Do not stop learning.
Do not wait for the perfect time.
Do not wait until you know perfect grammar.
Do not wait until you feel completely confident.
Start today.
Speak one sentence.
Learn one word.
Read one paragraph.
Practice for ten minutes.
Tomorrow, do a little more.
After one month, you will know more.
After six months, you may feel more confident.
After one year, you may look back and be surprised by your progress.
My own journey has taught me that success does not always come from doing something big once.
Sometimes, success comes from doing something small again and again.
That is true for English learning.
And that is true for life.
The Reason Behind English With Purpose
So, why did I start this blog?
I started it because I believe learning should be simple.
I started it because I know many learners are searching for practical English help.
I started it because I want to share useful lessons.
I started it because I want learners to become more confident.
And most importantly, I started it because I believe:
English can open doors, but confidence helps us walk through them.
My journey with English is still continuing.
And perhaps, through this blog, our journeys can continue together.
If you are learning English, remember that you are not alone.
We all start somewhere.
We all make mistakes.
We all learn slowly.
But if we continue, we improve.
So, let us learn together.
Let us practice together.
Let us make mistakes without fear.
Let us become better, one day at a time.
Welcome to my journey.
Welcome to your journey.
Welcome to English With Purpose.
Keep Learning. Keep Practicing. Keep Growing.
Your English journey may begin with one simple sentence today, but one day, that simple sentence can become your confident voice.
